Hi @Btcas15,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion touchpad isn't working, even though it's turned on, here are several steps you can try to fix it:

 1. Check if the Touchpad is Disabled via Shortcut

  • On many HP laptops, the touchpad can be toggled with a double-tap in the top-left corner of the touchpad.
  • Alternatively, try pressing Fn + F5, F6, or F7 (varies by model) to toggle the touchpad.

2. Enable Touchpad in Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad
  2. Make sure the Touchpad toggle is ON

3. Check Device Manager

  1. Press Win + X > Device Manager
  2. Expand Human Interface Devices, or Mice, and other pointing devices
  3. Look for SynapticsELAN, or HID-compliant touchpad
    • If it's disabled, right-click and choose Enable
    • If there's a yellow warning icon, try Update driver

4. Reinstall Touchpad Driver

  1. In Device Manager, right-click the touchpad device > Uninstall device
  2. Restart your PC — Windows should reinstall the driver automatically

Or download the latest driver from the HP Support site.

 5. BIOS Settings

Sometimes, the touchpad can be disabled in BIOS:

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS
  2. Look for the Internal Pointing Device and make sure it's enabled

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
