Hi @Kritish_Acharya,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP laptop's touchpad is not working, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

Check if the Touchpad is Disabled

  • Look for a touchpad toggle key on your keyboard (usually a function key like F5, F6, or a key with a touchpad icon). Press it to see if it re-enables the touchpad.
  • Alternatively, double-tap the top-left corner of the touchpad. Some HP laptops allow you to enable/disable the touchpad this way.

Check Touchpad Settings

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Devices > Touchpad.
  • Ensure the touchpad is turned On.
  • Adjust sensitivity settings if necessary.

Update/Reinstall Touchpad Driver

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  • Right-click your touchpad (e.g., Synaptics/Elan/Precision Touchpad) and choose Update driver.
  • If updating doesn’t work, uninstall the driver and restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the default driver automatically.

Check for Driver Updates on HP Support

  • Visit the HP Support Website and search for your laptop model.
  • Download and install the latest touchpad driver available for your device.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for updates.

Run the Hardware Troubleshooter

  • Open Settings and go to Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Select Hardware and Devices and run the troubleshooter.

Boot into Safe Mode

  • Restart your laptop in Safe Mode (press Shift while restarting > select Advanced options > Troubleshoot > Startup Settings > Restart > Safe Mode).
  • Check if the touchpad works in Safe Mode. If it does, a third-party application or driver might be causing the issue.

Reset BIOS Settings

  • Restart your laptop and press F10 (or the key indicated for BIOS setup).
  • Look for an option to reset to default settings.
  • Save and exit.

Check for Hardware Issues

If none of the above steps work, the touchpad hardware might be faulty. You can:

  • Test with an external mouse as a temporary solution.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
