@Kdubba, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding TouchPad Multi-Touch and Scrolling Issues on HP Laptops!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your brand new HP laptop's TouchPad is not responding to multi-touch gestures like two-finger scrolling, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Checking TouchPad Settings

Open the Settings:

  • Press Windows + I on your keyboard to open the Windows Settings.
  • Alternatively, go to the Start Menu and click on the Settings icon.

Navigate to Devices > Touchpad:

  • Ensure that the TouchPad is turned on.
  • Look for the two-finger scrolling option and make sure it is enabled.

Updating the TouchPad Driver

Open Device Manager:

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Mice and other pointing devices section.

Update the TouchPad driver:

  • Right-click on the TouchPad device (likely named Synaptics TouchPad or similar).
  • Select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

If the automatic update does not find newer drivers, visit the HP Support website:

  • Navigate to http://www.hp.com/support.
  • Enter your laptop's model number.
  • Find and download the latest TouchPad driver for your laptop model.
  • Install the downloaded driver and restart your laptop.

Enabling/Disabling Certain Gestures

Open the Synaptics/HP Control Panel for the TouchPad:

  • Press Windows + R, type control and press Enter to open the Control Panel.
  • Go to Hardware and Sound > Mouse > Device Settings or TouchPad Settings.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
