Hello,
About 5 months after purchase, the touchpad on my Pavilion x360 14 (14-dy0000) stopped working. It stopped suddenly without any updates.
Starting "device manager" I can see that in the "Human Interface Device (HID)" the device "HID I2C" gives an error "unable to start the device (code 10)" "A request for the HID descriptor failed".
The component is the "Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Controller - A0E8"
The current driver hidi2c version 10.0.22000.653 is dated 21.06.2006 Trying to update it says that the current driver is already the latest version available.
Uninstalling and reinstalling the device does not change anything and always gives the error.
In "device manager" under the category "Mouse and other pointing devices" I also noticed that the touchpad "ELAN Imput device" has disappeared
I have tried downloading new HP drivers, they are installed correctly but never really used in the "device manager"
I also tried updating the BIOS but nothing, I also noticed that the touchpad does not work in the BIOS either.
I can't really tell if it's a hardware problem or a driver problem because sometimes it starts working again by reinstalling the drivers, but now for a few weeks it hasn't shown any sign of life.
Another fact is that the same driver is also used by other peripherals and these work correctly.
I have already tried Hard Reset and performed tests on HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI
thanks for the help

In most cases, the simplest solution:
=> Use Windows Restore to return to the restore point before the error occurred.
