Touchpad one day decided to stop working, have had a look inside and re-seated the the ribbon and done a reset, but still nothing. Is there something else I can try or do I need a new touchpad

@Zimmy1953 Greetings from the HP Community!

If your touchpad stops working, try these steps:

  • Make sure there is no dust or dirt on the touchpad.
  • Press the Esc key several times.
  • Drumroll your fingers on the touchpad for ten seconds.
  • Turn your Chromebook off, then back on again.
  • Perform a hard reset.
  • If you have more than one account on your Chromebook, delete the account that has problems with the touchpad, then re-add the account.

Thanks for the reply, have tried all what was suggested but still nothing. Think I might need to change the touchpad, but can’t find just the pad itself, does the whole top have to be changed?

@Zimmy1953,

You don't need to replace the entire top and can just replace the touchpad.

You can purchase all the replacement parts available for your computer from HP part surfer.

Follow the steps in the below article for detailed instructions.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00372736

Or you can contact support and they will assist you in this regard.

Here is how you can get in touch with support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Cheers!
