HP Pavilion x360
Microsoft Windows 11

The pointer in my laptop was acting crazy.  It appears the pointer got stuck to the task bar and started opening different screens.  A new icon for my touch pad was also seen in the task bar.  Then I found the option to upgrade to Windows 11.  I thought with this upgrade the problem would get resolved.  But to my surprise the problems continued and today I find the touch pad not working.  I tried rebooting, updating drivers etc. but to no avail.  Last two days, I am using a mouse in my laptop - really crazy. Can somebody help pls??

Its the same issue for me. Try to check if it works in the bios . If it does its probably a software issue if it oesnt you need to replace the touchpad.

In the end even my issue didnt get fixed hopefully we find one 🙂

HI@DAKLAK,

Thanks for engaging in the HP support community! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

I understand that touchpad has stopped working on your PC.

As you mentioned that touchpad is not getting listed in the device manager.

Have you tried checking with an external mouse? Does the external mouse work?

BIOS is updated?

Please try the steps recommended below.

Click the Device Settings or the Click Pad Settings tab of Mouse Properties. If you have a Synaptic device, the tab includes the Synaptic icon.

Select the desired touchpad under the Devices list, and then click either Enable to turn on the device.

On some touchpads, you can turn the Touchpad on or off by double-tapping in the upper-left corner of the Touchpad. Double-tap to turn the Touchpad on, repeat to turn the Touchpad off.

Refer to this article to further troubleshoot touchpad issues.

If the issue still persists please provide the product number of your PC.

I will try to find the best driver available for your PC

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

@Jeff2525,

The only option to reimage the operating system to factory settings.

Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.

  1. Click Advanced system settings.
  2. Click the Advanced tab.
  3. In the Startup and Recovery section, click Settings.
  4. Click to clear the Automatically restart check box.

If you've been using the Recovery Partition (F11) to reinstall the OS, I recommend using the Recovery media instead to wipe out the HDD and create a new partition and fresh OS installation: Click here to obtain one, if you don't have on in your possession.

HP is huge , Microsoft huge  I am small and just a consumer, HP needs to work with Microsoft and own the problem their product is having or I need a Dell computer. You -  HP - partner up and fix this, not me, I am not salaried, it is your product

THE touchpad works with UEFI diagnostic from HP
