Pavilion Touchscreen Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am having difficulty left clicking and highlighting for copy and paste purposes. The touchpad has a slight slope to the left too. It is five weeks out of warranty. Can anyone suggest what I could do to fix it? Thank you.

@Mint61

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Riddle_Decipher is at your service.

As I understand the touchpad is depressed on the left side,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Did the touchpad issue occur after any accidental damages to the HP device?

Have you been able to use an external mouse instead?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

If the alternate mouse works when the touchpad is disabled on Synaptic software, it would mean that it's a touchpad failure,

However, if the external mouse doesn't work either, it could be a software/driver issue as well as the hardware defect.

That said, if the issue occurred after an accidental damage, here's what you need to know,

If the issue occurred after an accident (such as dropping it on the floor, liquid spilled on it, etc.) there could be a hardware failure and in such cases, you may need to get the computer repaired via HP (there could be a charge involved if the PC isn't covered by the accidental damage protection plan)

HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true
