Hi there,
I bought the HP Spectre a couple of months ago and I love it so far.
A couple of days ago I encountered this problem. Sometimes the pointer just goes to the lower right corner of the screen and starts clicking repeatedly within the same square centimeter. The laptop is rendered completely useless meanwhile, as I can't do anything meanwhile.
I did a recording of it, that you can see here: https://ufile.io/0ivwk
I have tried to check for driver updates but it says it's already up to date.
I hope you can help.
Model: HP Spectre x360 13
S/N#: [Personal Information Removed]
Thanks in advance
Best regards
Kasper

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,
Riddle_Decipher is at your service.
As I Understand the touchpad or touchscreen is causing the mouse to move around on its own at times,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Did you reinstall the touchpad or display drivers from the device manager?
Was the update attempted from the HP website or the HP Support assistance?
Did you check if an alternate or external mouse works without these issues?
If you haven't, I recommend you try the below steps:
Attempt using an alternate/external mouse.
(If that works when the touchpad is disabled on Synaptics software, it would mean that it's a touchpad failure,
However, if the external mouse doesn't work either, it could be a software/driver issue).
To resolve software issues:
Uninstall and reinstall the drivers for your mouse:
Go to the Device Manager and select your mouse. Uninstall it and then restart your computer. During restart, your mouse driver will automatically be reinstalled.
-
1. Click on Start and type ‘Device Manager’.
-
2. Click Device Manager.
-
3. Click + sign next to Mouse.
-
4. Right-click on mouse entry and choose "uninstall".
-
5. Restart your computer.
Let me know how that pans out
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask any other queries as well,
Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Hi Riddle,
Thank you so much for the reply.
I "updated" the drivers through the Device Manager. By right clicking and selecting 'Upgrade Driver Software'. It said it already is updated.
Anyhow, I just uninstalled the driver from the Device Manager and restarted as you instructed.
I'm on vacation atm, so I can't check if it works or not when using a mouse.
Actually, just after posting here, the problem seemed to disappear (without me changing anything). 10 minutes ago, it came back - but not for long.
I'll wait and see if your suggestion solves the issue 🙂
You'll hear from me. Thank you so much for your help so far!
