HP Pavilion 15-cs2073cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had to go back to Win 10 from 11 and get rid of Avast anti-virus and turn on Win Defender. I had a Touch screen and a Logitech wireless mouse and a wired USB headset. The night I turned on Win Defender It got a Security Intelligence update. The next morning, I had no touch screen and no mouse and no headset. I updated all available drivers although the mouse and headset are plug and play (they require no drivers). Looking under Settings>System>Pen and Touch I see "No pen or touch input is available for this display", which is funny because for the last 2 years it was a touch screen. HP has told me that all of their computers with touch screens say "Touch" or something with the word "touch " in it but mine does not. I KNOW THIS WAS A TOUCH SCREEN!! In Device Manager there is no HID Touch Screen listed and I have checked hidden devices. At one point I ran either a UEFI or HP hardware diagnostic on components and got "Critical Hardware Failure" but now I can't find it. I can't seem to get any help from anyone at HP or Microsoft. I would think the responsible party would want to help a customer to remain a customer in the future regardless of warranty status (I'm just trying to get a couple of questions answered. I don't expect them to replace my computer). If critical hardware failure means replace something, I'd just like to know what exactly it is. Is it USB adapter? Is it soldered to the board? Is it part of the CPU? Can I pull it out and put another one in? Do I need to call the Geek Squad? Should I throw this in the garbage?.........So, how are things with you?

@Deviladublin,

Welcome to the HP Support Community! I'd like to help!

I see you are experiencing issues with the HP Pavilion Notebook Touchscreen and USB stopped working.

I have a few recommendations

  • Update your Notebook computer to latest BIOS from HP.COM.
  • Try doing System Restore if it had worked few days ago.
  • Make sure the Windows and HP support assistant updates are up to date.
  • If issue still persists then do Reset PC Keep my files from windows and check if it works.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
