So many drivers started failing. First and most noticably touchpad, then touchscreen. I2C HID Device also has error. Not sure what else. They were first just hidden so I tried restarting the laptop and uninstalling it and sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't, but now they're just completely gone, not even just hidden. I can't find the touchscreen driver on the HP website and the pc in settings doesn't even seem to recognize it ever was touchscreen/pen compatible. I can download the touchpad but it says it is "not supported on this os". This was a problem when I tried to download drivers because my laptop was updated to Windows 24H2, whereas the only drivers available was 22H2. I thought that was the issue so I reinstalled Windows 10 64 bit. The issue persists. I am very desperate to fix this problem. I've run HP hardware diagnostic test, all returning with no issues.

@Livvs, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the drivers missing!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand how frustrating it can be when multiple drivers stop functioning, especially for essential features like the touchpad and touchscreen. I'll do my best to assist you.
Since you’ve already tried reinstalling Windows and running the HP Hardware Diagnostics (which returned no issues), here are a few steps to try:
1. Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off your laptop and disconnect all external devices.
- Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds.
- Restart and check if the drivers reappear in Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for Missing Drivers
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
- Click View and select Show hidden devices.
- If you see any yellow warning signs, right-click and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
3.Restore BIOS Defaults
- Restart your laptop and press F10 to enter the BIOS.
- Look for an option to Load Setup Defaults or Restore Default Settings.
- Save changes and exit.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hello!
1. I performed the hard reset. When I held the power button it turned the light on and turned it back off then I clicked it again to turn the laptop on. Can you confirm I did this correctly? No changes in the device manager.
2. When you click to show hidden devices the touchpad and touchscreen drivers are still completely gone, but HID-compliant pen is there. When I click to update drivers and search automatically it says the latest version found by windows is already installed. This also happens for a couple others like I2C HID Device.
3. I did as instructed. No changes to the device manager.
Have a great day as well.

@Livvs, Thanks for getting back with the update! I understand how frustrating this must be — especially when essential features like the touchscreen and touchpad are involved. Let’s try a few more steps to see if we can get this sorted out for you.
Here’s what I’d suggest next:
Install the Intel Serial IO Driver
Sometimes the touchscreen and touchpad drivers depend on the Intel Serial IO driver. You can download it from the HP website (even if it’s listed under an older OS version).
- Go to the HP support page for your model.
- Download and install the latest Intel Serial IO driver available.
- Restart your laptop and check the Device Manager.
Update the Chipset Drivers
Outdated or missing chipset drivers can cause touch-related components to disappear.
- Go to the HP website and look for the latest chipset drivers under the "Driver-Chipset" section.
- Install and restart the laptop.
Enable Touchscreen in Device Manager
- Open Device Manager.
- Under Human Interface Devices (if available), right-click on HID-compliant touch screen and enable it (if it shows up).
- If it’s not listed, select Action > Scan for hardware changes to see if Windows detects it.
Use HP Cloud Recovery Tool (if nothing works)
If the issue persists after all these steps, you can try restoring your laptop to factory settings using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool. This will install a fresh copy of Windows with the original drivers.
Let me know how it goes! If you need more help, I’m happy to keep working with you until we figure it out. 😊
