HP EliteBook 830 G5 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello HP Support,

I am experiencing a serious issue with my HP touchscreen laptop display. The screen is blurry, continuously flickering, and shaking. In addition, the touchscreen function has completely stopped working.

I have not connected the laptop to an external monitor yet, but the issue persists after restarting and updating drivers. The laptop is out of warranty, and I would like to know the possible repair options, estimated cost, and whether I can visit an authorized HP service center for this issue.

Here are my laptop details:
- Model: HP EliteBook 830 G5 Notebook PC
- Serial Number: 5CG8380ZZ6
- Purchase Date: NA

Please let me know the next steps to get this resolved.

Thanks,
Priya Reddy

Hi @5CG8380ZZ6 /Priya,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Sorry to hear about the serious display issues you are experiencing with your HP EliteBook 830 G5—the combination of blurriness, constant flickering/shaking, and a non-functional touchscreen points to a significant hardware problem.

Since the issue persists after restarting and updating drivers, and considering the symptoms affect both the display and the touch functionality, the problem is highly likely related to the display assembly itself or the internal video cable (eDP cable) that connects the screen to the motherboard.

Here are your next steps, repair options, and estimated costs in India:

 Confirm the Problem (Crucial Diagnostic)

Before proceeding to repair, you must perform this one test to isolate the issue:

  • Connect to an External Monitor: Connect your EliteBook to any external monitor or TV using the HDMI or USB-C/DisplayPort output.

    • If the external monitor works perfectly: The problem is 100% the internal screen, the video cable, or the screen hinges/frame. This is good news, as the motherboard and graphics chip are fine.

    • If the external monitor also flickers/shakes: The problem is with the motherboard (likely the integrated graphics chip), which is a much more expensive repair.
