HP ENVY x360 Convertible Laptop PC 15m-ed1023dx
Microsoft Windows 11

After servicing my laptop through Geek Squad, my touchscreen still does not work. They reinstalled all of the drivers, ran hardware diagnostics, updated Windows fully to Win11, performed system corruption checks and cleaning to no avail. They chocked this up to be related to an incompatibility somewhere. I have attached my current build info and relevant system information.

Hi @Rikkinunn,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the touchscreen on your HP ENVY x360 convertible laptop is not functioning, you can try several troubleshooting steps to identify and potentially resolve the issue. Here are some steps you can follow.

Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software glitches that might be affecting the touchscreen.

Update Drivers:

  • Go to the HP official website and search for your laptop model.
  • Find the "Drivers" or "Support" section and download the latest touchscreen driver for your specific model.
  • Install the driver and restart your laptop.

Calibrate Touchscreen:

  • Search for "Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input" in the Windows search bar and open the corresponding settings.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate your touchscreen.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Sometimes, Windows updates can fix hardware-related issues. Make sure your operating system is up to date.

Disable and Re-enable the Touchscreen:

  • Open the "Device Manager" by searching for it in the Windows search bar.
  • Expand the "Human Interface Devices" section.
  • Right-click on the touchscreen device (it might be named something like "HID-compliant touch screen") and select "Disable device."
  • Wait for a moment, then right-click on the disabled device and select "Enable device."

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • If none of the software solutions work, there might be a hardware issue.
  • Try using a stylus or another compatible device to see if the touchscreen responds to that input. This can help determine if the issue is specific to touch input or a more general hardware issue.

Perform a System Restore:

  • If the issue started after a recent software installation or update, you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a point where the touchscreen was working.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
