Hi @Kayla117,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your touchscreen has stopped working on your HP Chromebook x360, here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue.

Restart Your Chromebook

  • Press and hold the Power button until the Chromebook powers off.
  • Wait for a few seconds, then turn it back on.

Ensure Touchscreen is Enabled

  • Open the Chrome browser.
  • Type chrome://flags in the address bar and press Enter.
  • Search for Debugging keyboard shortcuts and enable it (if not already).
  • Restart the Chromebook.
  • Once restarted, press Search + Shift + T to toggle the touchscreen on or off.

Check for Software Updates

  • Click on the clock in the bottom-right corner.
  • Select Settings > About ChromeOS > Check for updates.
  • Install any available updates and restart the Chromebook.

Reset Hardware

Perform a hard reset to refresh your Chromebook's hardware settings:

  1. Turn off the Chromebook.
  2. Press and hold the Refresh key (circular arrow) and tap the Power button.
  3. Release the keys when the Chromebook starts up.

Run Diagnostics

Check if the touchscreen hardware is recognized:

  1. Open Diagnostics:
    • Click on the clock in the bottom-right corner.
    • Select Settings > About ChromeOS > Diagnostics.
  2. Look for touch input tests or hardware issues in the Input or Touchscreen section.

Perform a Powerwash

If the issue persists, reset your Chromebook to factory settings:

  1. Backup your data (this will erase local files).
  2. Go to Settings > Advanced > Reset settings > Powerwash > Restart.

Check for Hardware Issues

If the touchscreen still doesn't work:

  • Check for physical damage or dirt on the screen.
  • Test the touchscreen in Guest Mode (sign out and click "Browse as Guest").
  • Connect an external mouse to navigate, as a workaround.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
