HP Notebook 15-dy1751ms
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I own a HP Notebook 15-dy1751ms for 3yrs now and since I upgraded to Win10 and now Win11, the touchscreen is not working. The driver is not available. Where can I download a driver for the touchscreen?

I have run diagnostics. No result because the driver is not available in the DEVICE MANAGER nor is it hidden. It simply got deleted when installing Win10.

A second problem also needs to be addressed:

When the display/laptop gets out of sleep, the display flickers and can only be fixed be restart.

Who can help? Thanks!

Hi @Marc8704,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

If your HP Notebook 15-dy1751ms touchscreen stopped working after upgrading to Windows 10 and now Windows 11, and the driver is missing, it is likely because the touchscreen driver is either not installed or is incompatible with the new operating system. Here's how you can try to resolve the issue:

Check Device Manager:

  • Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Human Interface Devices section.
  • Look for HID-compliant touch screen. If it is missing or has a warning icon (yellow exclamation mark), proceed to the next steps.

Try Enabling the Device:

  • If you see HID-compliant touch screen, right-click on it and select Enable device if it’s disabled.
  • If it is enabled and still not working, right-click and select Disable device, then enable it again.

Update the Driver from Device Manager:

  • Right-click on HID-compliant touch screen and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for drivers. Windows will attempt to find and install the appropriate driver.
  • If Windows does not find any updates, try selecting Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer, and see if a compatible driver is available.

Install the Original Touchscreen Driver from HP’s Website:

  • Visit the HP Support website.
  • Enter your model number (HP Notebook 15-dy1751ms) in the search bar.
  • Navigate to the Drivers & Software section.
  • Select your operating system (Windows 10/11).
  • Look for drivers under the Driver-Chipset or Driver-Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices sections.
  • Download and install the Intel Serial IO Driver or Touchscreen Driver, if available.

Use Windows Update:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Check for updates, as Windows Update sometimes includes drivers for devices that are not working correctly.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi @Marc8704,

Please find the remaining steps below.

Manually Install a Generic Touchscreen Driver:

  • If the HP website does not have the driver, you can try installing a generic touchscreen driver:
    • In Device Manager, right-click on the HID-compliant touch screen or the unknown device that might be your touchscreen.
    • Select Update driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
    • Uncheck Show compatible hardware and select USB Input Device or any generic touch driver that could work.

Check Windows Optional Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options > Optional updates.
  • Look under the Driver updates section for any available touchscreen drivers that can be installed.

Use HP Support Assistant:

  • Install the HP Support Assistant from HP’s website if not already installed.
  • Open HP Support Assistant and use it to check for updates, including any that might relate to your touchscreen.

Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter:

  • Although not directly accessible in Windows 11, you can still run this troubleshooter via command line:
    • Press Win + R, type msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic, and press Enter.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to troubleshoot hardware-related issues.

Tips:

  • BIOS Update: Check if there is a BIOS update available for your device on the HP support page, as sometimes BIOS updates can resolve hardware recognition issues.
  • Reset Windows Settings: As a last resort, consider resetting your Windows settings or performing a clean install of Windows 11, as some settings might be preventing the touchscreen from functioning correctly.

If the above steps do not resolve the touchscreen issue, it's possible that the device might have hardware compatibility issues with Windows 11, or there might be an underlying hardware fault. In that case, contact HP phone support for further diagnosis.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
