HP Notebook - 15-ay014dx (Touch)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Touchscreen stopped working. I jumped through all the hoops the virtual assistant gave me and the touchscreen works in component test. I tried resetting it, no luck. Device manager has it listed as a generic PnP monitor and it's not in the HID section either. I don't know how to get the monitor recognized.

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community.

I reviewed the case regarding issues with the computer's touchscreen. I will be delighted to assist you here.

I have a few steps that should resolve your concern:

I recommend checking if the Touch is working on BIOS (Accessed by tapping on F10 while restarting the computer).

If it works on bios, it's a software issue, update the drivers from the HP Website, if the issue persists: please reinstall windows using the recovery partition or the recovery media to fix the issue

Attempt to run a test using the HP hardware diagnostic tool,

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes. 😉

Thank you for responding. I had already completed a system recovery, updated the BIOS and also did a component test. Touch works in the component test. The problem seems to be that device manager under monitor or HID can't see that the screen is touch enabled. I looked through the drivers and couldn't find one that addresses my issue.
