My touchscreen stopped working. the 12C HID device shows code 10: HID descriptor request failed. A power reset and device reinstall didn't help, and HP support assistant shows no updates.

Hi @Doecaz
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query.
The 12C HID Device showing Code 10 (“This device cannot start”) in Device Manager indicates that Windows is unable to start the device. This may be related to a driver issue, an incompatible driver, or a hardware/firmware problem. I would request you to please follow the steps:
Install Windows Optional Updates.
- Search for and open Check for updates in Windows.
- In Windows 11, navigate to Advanced options > Optional updates.
- Select any available system, chipset, or HID driver updates, click Download & install, and restart your computer when prompted.
Reinstall the Device Driver.
- Search for and open Device Manager.
- Expand Human Interface Devices (or the relevant category), right-click I2C HID Device, and select Properties.
- Select the Driver tab and Right click uninstall Driver.
- Uninstall (or Uninstall Device), confirm, and then click Action > Scan for hardware changes on the top menu to force Windows to re-detect the hardware
Manually Download BIOS and Drivers from HP Support Automated assistants do not always carry every released firmware patch. Go directly to the HP Customer Support website to locate your exact model (HP OmniBook X Flip 14-fm0000) and manually download the latest BIOS, chipset, and touchscreen/graphics drivers. Install the updates and restart your laptop.
