My camera worked fine then when I ONCE used an external camera and no longer use the camera, now I get the error code Troubleshoot Camera App error code 0xA00F42B3
The camera is working in device manager and works just no video.
I am also told "Your camera is reporting that it is blocked or turned off by a switch or button on your device. Please unblock it or turn the switch on. "
I have no switches on the laptop. Also I do not have F13 key. Not sure where to turn on or off the video camera?????

@Paulparalegal, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Troubleshooting Camera App Error Code 0xA00F42B3
If you're encountering the error code 0xA00F42B3 that suggests your camera is blocked or turned off by a switch or button on your device, here are steps to resolve the issue:
Check the Webcam Privacy Switch or Shutter Key:
- Some HP notebook models come with a webcam privacy switch or a webcam shutter key. This switch or button is located either on the side of the laptop or above the keyboard action key row.
- Privacy Switch: Slide the switch away from the icon next to it to unblock or turn on the camera.
- Shutter Key: Press the webcam shutter key on your keyboard to unblock the camera.
Ensure Webcam Software Settings:
- Make sure that your webcam is set as the default device in the webcam software settings. Sometimes, switching from an external camera may affect this setting.
Check Camera Access Settings in Windows:
- Windows 11: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera. Ensure the toggle under Camera access is set to "On." Similarly, check that the apps which need the camera have their toggle set to "On."
- Windows 10: Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera, and enable camera access for your apps.
Additional Troubleshooting:
- Restart your computer to reset any temporary software conflicts.
- Uninstall and reinstall webcam drivers to resolve possible driver conflicts:
- Open Device Manager, right-click on your webcam, and select "Uninstall device."
- Restart your computer to automatically reinstall the drivers.
Use HP Support Assistant:
- Utilize the HP Support Assistant to check for the latest updates for your webcam drivers and any related software updates from HP.
