Spectre 14 x360 -1000
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello good people of the internet,

I recently got my new laptop (Spectre 14) from HP and have been loving it.

However, during the installation process, there was a cool option to select something in the lines of 'dimming background apps brightness levels when they are not in focus'. Meaning if I have 1 window of internet up on one half of my screen, and another window of Word on the other half, the two will be at different brightness levels, to save battery (?); depending on where I am working. This sounded really cool, useful, and neat, so I checked it and went with it. But, as I am working with it more and more, I am realizing how much I actually multi-task, and the different brightness levels are more of a hindrance at times than they are helping me.

So here is my problem - I can't find where to turn it "off". When googling the problem, everyone just says "slide the brightness bar", well yes, that works - for the active window, the other remains dim. I have looked throughout the windows settings menu as thoroughly as I can, but can not find this setting.

Also, I am not sure if this is a windows 11 feature, or if it is part of Intel Graphics, or if it is another app that comes along with new HP products

And so here I am now, looking for a way to turn it off; any ideas? Thanks.

Found the solution:

There is a software that comes along with the computer, "HP Command Center", in which there is a 'slider' called "Focus Mode", with which you can turn this feature on and off at any given time.
