HP ENVY Notebook - 15-ae030tx
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I'm trying to connect 2 monitors to my laptop, but there is only one HDMI port so I'm trying to connect the 2nd monitor through the USB-A ports. I noticed all of them are USB SS ports so I'd assume they are capable to do that.

The adaptor I currently hold is a Simplecom USB-A to HDMI/VGA adaptor https://www.simplecom.com.au/media/linksforce/pdf/d/a/da316a_manual.pdf. The brought-along driver is a USB 2.0 display driver and it's not letting me to connect dual monitors.

Does my laptop/adaptor support USB-A to HDMI displays at all? If they do what configuration do I have to do? If they don't what laptop model/adaptor do I need?

Hello there,

Thank you for your support.

As stated in the question my problem is that the laptop has only one built-in video output port which is an HDMI port, the rest are USB-A port.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but I will need 2 separate video output ports to connect 2 extended monitors, hence I'm using the USB-A to HDMI adaptor I was talking about in my post.

If you could help me with resolving the issue with the SimpleCom adaptor, or suggest an alternative adaptor, that would be extremely helpful 🙂
