HP Pavilion Power - 15-cb093tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
I have an external monitor which i use to connect with USB C.

It works fine sometimes, but when i connect my laptop to power, the external monitor will go blank and stop detecting output.

The laptop, however, still thinks its outputting to a second monitor.

When this happens, the only thing that fixes the issue is a full power cycle (press and hold power button for 30 seconds) on the laptop. So far, the only consistent way to replicate the problem is to plug my laptop in to an external power source.

I have updated the BIOS and all my nvidia drivers as of october

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @pinktoast
Welcome to HP Support Community. This is a great place to post questions and find answers.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing issues with your HP Pavilion Power - 15-Cb093tx wherein the external monitor will go blank and stop detecting output.

This issue could occurred because the type c port is not a display port. It is only for charging the unit and data transfer.

You may check the specification from this link.

You need to connect the external monitor to an HDMI port.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
