I cannot get my USB-C port to connect to external display. The USB-C port will connect to a phone, but will not connect to USB-C to HDMI adapter or HP Thunderbolt docking station. At first I thought the USB-C port did not support external display, but my co-worker has the same model of computer and docking station with no issue. I can't seem to locate USB-C alt mode, which after researching, is what I need to do. Any suggestions?

There are dozens of machines as shown
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-laptop-pc-15-dw3000/37506289/model/2100000419/product-info
They have similar ports
1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate; 2 SuperSpeed USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate; 1 HDMI 1.4b; 1 RJ-45; 1 AC smart pin; 1 headphone/microphone combo |
As you can see, your machine It ONLY has 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine
- Connect to an external monitor with / without hub/dock/adapter
Regards.
