HP USB-C G5 Essential Dock

I have had the same problem previously and this is the replacement sent from HP.

The USB C connection has stopped working, the Docking station doesn't connect to any of the laptops I have tried it with.

Hi @chris11051,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your USB docking station.

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Check Power Supply: Make sure the dock is plugged into a power source and that the power LED is on.

Test with Different Cables: Sometimes the USB-C cable might be the issue. Try using a different USB-C cable if you have one available.

Update Drivers: Ensure that your laptop’s USB-C drivers and any dock-related drivers are up to date. You can usually find these on HP’s support website.

Reconnect Devices: Disconnect and reconnect the dock from the laptop. Sometimes a simple reconnection can resolve the issue.

Try Different Ports: If your laptop has multiple USB-C ports, try connecting the dock to a different port.

Check for Hardware Issues: Inspect both the dock and the USB-C ports on your laptop for any visible damage or debris.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!

Check Power Supply: Make sure the dock is plugged into a power source and that the power LED is on. - I  have checked this and the power is on

Test with Different Cables: Sometimes the USB-C cable might be the issue. Try using a different USB-C cable if you have one available. - The docking station i have has its own usb c cable. you cannot swap and change this its a fixed cable.

Update Drivers: Ensure that your laptop’s USB-C drivers and any dock-related drivers are up to date. You can usually find these on HP’s support website. - All up to date

Reconnect Devices: Disconnect and reconnect the dock from the laptop. Sometimes a simple reconnection can resolve the issue. - I have tried this a number of times and still no luck.

Try Different Ports: If your laptop has multiple USB-C ports, try connecting the dock to a different port. - There is only on port in my laptop but  i have tried different laptops and it still doesn't work.

Check for Hardware Issues: Inspect both the dock and the USB-C ports on your laptop for any visible damage or debris. - No visible damage to either.

Id like to note that this happened with my first docking station and the one i have now is a replacement for that one. Now its happened again.
