I am not getting a video signal through the USB C port for either one monitor or two through a C port docking station? Does my Pavillion 15-cx2xxx support video through this port; or how do I connect two monitors for an extended decks top?

@jeffr3,Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Nearly all HP Pavilion notebooks don't have a docking port therefore you can't get a docking station for your machine or for HP Pavilions. The specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06474274
which shows it has
- 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate);
- 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A (Data Transfer Only);
- 1 AC smart pin;
- 1 HDMI 1.4b;
- 1 headphone/microphone combo;
- 1 RJ-45
As you can see, its USB-C port does NOT support video out. At this stage, a docking station using USB-A ports still is a good choice. If you wish to have 2 or more external monitors, please enter your requirement on the following link and it will find for you few options on market today including some HP products:

or try following HP docks
