Hi
I have tried 6 different USB-C to HDMI or DP adapters but none work.
I am told I need USB-C Alternate Mode - which I am told this machine supports - but it still won't work.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem?
Thanks

Hi,
Your USB-C port does not support DP alt mode. So most adapters will not work as they require this. You would need to buy an actual converter cable which converts the signal from USB to HDMI using Displaylink

You also have a HDMI port on the machine.
Hope it helps,
David

You're welcome. Most USB-C adapters out there will be DP alt mode.
If you get an adapter for the regular USB 3.0 (not the USB-C 3.0) port it will most likely be a converter with displaylink.
Take care,

I bought a new USB-C to HDMI adaptor and two USB-C to DP adaptors. None of these work.... You mentioned previously that the HP Envy USB-C port is not Alternate mode compatible - so I assume that no USB-C adaptors will work at all, even if they are Alt Mode. So, it looks like the only solution is a certified Displaylink Adaptor like you suggested... which costs more than the 34" monitor! Yet, at home, I have a USB3 to VGA which works perfectly... it looks like I have 3 options: Return the monitor, upgrade the laptop or get the Displaylink Adaptor...

Hi,
Something like this should work
I would say the ones you bought and returned are most likely DP alt mode as nearly all USB-C adapter are. (even if not mentioned in description).
