Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm trying to get the USB-C port to display through my HDMI monitor.  I've purchased a HP USB-C to HDMI adapter and it's not working.  I get the following message from Windows, "Display connection might be limited", and nothing is displayed.  If I connect the same monitor using the same HDMI cable directly to the HDMI port it works OK so I'm happy the monitor and cable are OK.  Also if I look in Device Manager it says the USB-C port is working OK.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

I have check the User Guide: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05964462 and the Notebook has regular USB Type- C high speed but does not have USB Type-C Thunderbolt. So you will not be able to use the USB Type-C for display.

Please refer to page 5 & 6 in the User Guide

Hope this clears it 😊

Keep me posted if you need further assistance

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend 😊

Thanks Caazy Toad.  If you follow this link it says that the laptop supports DisplayPort 1.2 yet there isn't a displayport so I assume it must do it through the USB-C port?  If not, how does the laptop support displayport?

Thanks for keeping me posted

Do you have a Thunderbolt symbol on the USB Type- C port?

No, it just shows the standard USB symbol.

If it doesn't have the thunderbolt system then it is just a regular USB Type -C and you cannot use it to connect external monitors

Thank you

I get that but if the product spec says it supports DisplayPort 1.2 can you explain how it does that if not through the USB port?
