HP Pavilion x360 15-cr0003na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I just bought a  HP Pavilion x360 15-cr0003na and got a USB-C to VGA Adapter too (p/n: 831117-001). But it keeps saying the 'display connection might be limited'.  It keeps pinging the same error every second.

I'm trying to find if my laptop is compatible with the vga adapter? Can anyone help?

I try plug in the adapter with and without the vga cable attached. No change.

The online videos explaining how to use the adapter is just simply plug it in.

Thanks Tony

Your machine ONLY has following ports

1 USB 3.1 Type-C™ Gen 1 (5 Gb/s signaling rate); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate); 1 HDMI; 1 headphone/microphone combo

The USB-C port above does not support video out without a proper adapter. UDB-C to VGA cable won't work.

Regards.

Thanks for the response. I thought as much.

It's too easy to buy a USB-C to VGA Adapter to do just that, and work on my laptop I was buying, only to find it doesn't do its job, only on certain devices.

HP - very disappointed. There were several points in the buying process you could have mentioned that this device isn't compatible with the laptop in my basket. Also, when on the laptop page and checking out the tech info, description etc, there was also a list of Accessories, monitors, bags, mice, AND the USB-C to VGA Adapter!!!! So if I am seeing the adapter on the list of Accessories for that particular laptop, that's a 100% given its going to be compatible!

Very disappointed. I hope I still have the box to send the adapter back!
