USB TYPE C display port with external USB TYPE C VGA adapter compatibility

Hi,

Does the HP Elitebook 840 G5 work with  USB type C to VGA or HDMI adapters?

Is this port restricted for only HP Dock usage?

I tried AlexVyan USB Type C(Thunderbolt 3) to VGA Adapter and it didnt work.

I tried it on 3 different laptops.

I would like to know whether there is any restriction for usage with third party products before re-ordering the item to rule out hardware issues with the adapter.

It's a Thunderbolt 3 port, so interesting how it did not work. When you said you tried it on 3 different laptops, what happened in those situations? 

If you really want to get an HP recommended accessory, you could try model N9K76AA which is the USB-C to VGA adapter recommended by HP with this device although third party should work.
