I want to hook up a 2nd monitor to my new laptop. Works using the HDMI port. Doesn't work with the USB Type-C port. I know the cable and monitor work as I have no issues with my work laptop. Should I be able to do this, or is my Type-C port data only?

Appreciate the help.

As per the Service Guide: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06510442 this Notebook's USB Typ-eC is not Thunderbolt so you wont be able to use that port for display

You will need to use a HDMI Splitter to connect 2 external monitors

Thank you

My laptop is a Pavilion 15-cs3 model.  I am trying to set up dual monitors and am having a similar issue.  The documentation says that it is a USB-C port but does not indicate whether it can support a monitor or not.  I have spoken with tech support but am not convinced they understood what I was asking.  They recommended a USB-C to HDMI adapter but that doesn't seem to be working.  I tried using a docking station but that didn't work either.  If I try an HDMI splitter will the laptop support that?
