HP Laptop 14s dk0123au
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I just bought a Hp Laptop 14s dk0123au and wanted to try to use a USB webcam other than the built in cam of it. The problem is the device didn't show up on the device list. I tried to plug it in a USB hub and it keep showing as an "Unknown USB Device (Port Reset Failed)" and saying "USB device does not recognized -- The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it."

What could be the reason and possible solution for this so that I could use an external webcam for my laptop?

Thank you, hoping to get to know your helpful response and thought.

Welcome to the HP support community.

Uninstall all usb devices from the device manager and restart the computer

Start Control Panel, click Hardware and Sound, and then click Device Manager. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.

If that does not work, create a new user account and check if that works:

Here are the steps:- Click here

I hope that helps.

Run an Extensive system test to check for hardware failures.

1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.

3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.

4. Click Extensive Test.

5. Click Run once, or Loop until error. While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component are shown on the screen.
