Hello, I recently got an Omen 45L desktop and it came with two usb ports that can work even when the computer is turned off. I believe it is this USB: "USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate (Battery Charging 1.2, HP Sleep and Charge)". After only a few months of owning the computer one of the battery charging USB ports stopped working all together. I've tried different cables but I'm pretty sure the problem is with the USB port. Is there a way I could replace this usb port or maybe fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @_Keven,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing issues with one of the USB ports on your new Omen 45L desktop. It can be really frustrating, especially when a feature like Sleep and Charge was working well before. Let’s see if we can figure out what's going on.
- Did the USB port gradually stop working, or did it stop all at once after an update or hardware change?
- Does the port show any physical signs of damage or looseness, or does it seem intact but unresponsive?
- When you plug something into that port, do you see any lights or recognition from the device (even if it doesn't work), or is it completely dead?
Let's try the steps below.
Check BIOS Settings for USB Power:
- Restart the computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing Esc or F10 during startup).
- Look for settings related to USB power or Sleep and Charge options and ensure they’re enabled. Sometimes these can get disabled after a firmware or BIOS update.
Update USB Drivers:
- Open Device Manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers, and look for any errors or warnings.
- Right-click on each USB Root Hub (and other USB-related devices) and choose Update driver. If no update is available, try uninstalling the problematic USB hub and rebooting the computer so Windows reinstalls the driver.
Power Reset the System:
- Completely shut down your Omen 45L and unplug it from the power source for a few minutes.
- While unplugged, hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power.
- Plug the desktop back in and test the USB port again to see if it’s working.
Check for Windows Power Settings Conflicts:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
- Scroll down to USB Settings and expand USB selective suspend setting. Ensure that this option is disabled to prevent the system from turning off the USB ports.
Test the Port in a Different Power State:
- Test the problematic USB port while the computer is both fully off and turned on. If it only fails in one state (on or off), this could indicate a firmware or driver issue specific to the Sleep and Charge feature.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, the port may have a hardware fault. In that case, it would likely require a service or repair. Since your desktop is relatively new, it might still be under warranty, so I recommend contacting HP Phone Support for assistance with a repair or replacement.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
