Im experiencing an issue with my HP EliteBook 840 G11’s USB‑C port when trying to output display from certain sources. When I connect directly from USB‑C to HDMI or DisplayPort, the laptop fails to detect the display and doesn’t charge, with no change in Device Manager. In contrast, the HDMI port works perfectly, and using a USB‑C dongle (USB‑C to HDMI) or connecting to a Dell or HP USB‑C dock results in proper charging and display output.
I’ve verified that the problematic USB‑C source works fine on my older laptop. On my new EliteBook, I found a temporary workaround: if I power off the laptop, hold down the power button for 30 seconds, and then power it on, the display is recognized and works as expected—until I unplug it. If you plug it in again, nothing.
Has anyone encountered this issue, or does anyone have a solution?

I am having the exact same issue currently with a brand new G11, G10,9,8 all work fine with this monitor and yes we swapped cables, etc to make sure. Seems the cold boot is the only way to "correct" the issue temporarily until disconnected again. Updated bios, firmware etc, nothing stands out. Reseated battery connections internally too just in case. Problem remains.
