I currently have connected an Asus Pro-Art monitor via the HDMI port on my Pavilion15-cs2031na and would like to add a second identical monitor. I have attempted to add via USB C with no success. 1.) used a USB C to HDMI adapter no luck. 2) connected a hub to USB C port and while the powered USB TYpe A ports worked successfully on the hub, the HDMI was not successful. Cable was not an issue as it worked directly from HDMI on Pavilion to monitor.
Any suggestions on a USB C adapter which will support the above will be appreciated.
Thank you

The specs of your machine is
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06456882
It has
- 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate);
- 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A (Data Transfer Only);
- 1 RJ-45;
- 1 AC smart pin;
- 1 HDMI;
- 1 headphone/microphone combo
No, you can't use USB-C port to connect directly to a monitor. You can use USB-A dock.
If you wish to have 2 or more external monitors (and notebook monitor - total 3), please enter your requirement on the following link and it will find for you few options on market today including some HP products:

or try following HP docks

My pick for productivity and few more years down the track:
HP USB-C/A Universal Dock G2
