Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

Last night I ran the bios update from HP, this morning I cannot  connect to my external monitor.  

 

The last time this happened, the community said to update the firmware for the USB-C thunderbolt ports - I tried to run that again this morning and received the notification that I had the most recent version

 

When I open settings and look at the displays - I cannot get the system to recognise the display.

 

I am running a 4k samsung monitor - hdmi cable to a hdmi to usb-c converter (have been running with this for 4 years) and into the laptop.

 

I have tried the recommended connection sequence - power and then display - and changed which is plugged into which port and disconnected any other devides I have
