There are 2 obvious things you can do to upgrade your laptop. I have the same model as you in the office that I upgraded.
- Add a 2nd 8GB RAM module to give you16GB RAM. (fairly easy)
- Replace the 7200RPM standard drive with an NVMe SSD (requires advanced expertise to copy current drive and configure the BIOS) This is your biggest bang for the buck and you will see 4-5x the speed booting, launching programs and saving files.
For instructions, search the model number on youtube or use a repair shop in your area.
