Welcome to HP Support Forums!
I see from your post that you need information and assistance related to connecting an external monitor using USB-C. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.
After reviewing your post thoroughly, I did go through the Product specifications and found that your PC was shipped with 1 USB 3.1 (Type-C™); 2 USB 3.1 (1 HP Sleep and Charge); 1 HDMI; 1 headphone/microphone combo.
Alternatively, you can go through the Maintenance and Service guide of your notebook and scroll down to Chapter 2. External component identification, page number 12 to 14.
On the left side of the laptop you have the Power button, then the Power light, then the Security cable slot, then you have the USB 2.0 port which Connects an optional USB device, such as a keyboard, mouse, external drive, printer, scanner, or USB hub. Next one is the Audio-Out (headphone)/Audio-In (microphone) combo jack. Next one is the volume button and then drive light.
Similarly on the right side of the laptop you have - Memory card reader slot, then you have a USB Type C-port which Connects an optional USB device with a Type-C connector.
Next one is USB 3.0 charging (powered) port - Connects an optional USB device, such as a keyboard, mouse, external drive, printer, scanner, or USB hub. Standard USB ports will not charge all USB devices or will charge using a low current. Some USB devices require power and require you to use a powered port. NOTE: USB charging ports can also charge select models of cell phones and MP3 players, even when the computer is oƫ
Unfortunately your PC does not have thunderbolt port, hence you will not be able to connect external monitor using USB-C.
I hope this answers your question, do let me know if you need any further assistance.
that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,
give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,
that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Good Luck.

Thank you for replying,
As I understand you would like to know if you can use a dongle like USB-C to hdmi 2.0 to connect to an external monitor, Unfortunately there needs to be a Thunderbolt port available on your PC only then you can connect using USB-C to HDMI to connect to an external monitor.
However, you can charge the laptop using USB-C. For more information, please go through this link: HP PCs, Tablets and Accessories - Using USB Type-C to Transfer Power and Data
I hope I have answered your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance. I'll be more than happy to help you.
Take care now and do have a fabulous week ahead. 🙂

Why can’t I use a usb-c to display port adapter which does not require a thunderbolt port ?
