Hello,
This is the product that I have: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c05582722
I am trying to connect 2 external monitors to my laptop( to extend, not split), but I only have one HDMI port. I tried connecting a display to type-c port but looks like its only for data transfer (didn't work). I searched for this specific processor in the intel website and it says DP is supported but my laptop doesn't have a DP port. Is there any way to make it work? or any suggestions?
Thank you,

Here are the steps for each solution in detail.
Using a Docking Station
- Purchase a compatible docking station with dual monitor support (ensure it has HDMI/DisplayPort ports).
- Connect the docking station to your laptop using the USB-C, Thunderbolt, or USB 3.0 port.
- Connect your monitors to the docking station using HDMI/DisplayPort cables.
- Install any necessary drivers that come with the docking station.
Using a USB to HDMI Adapter
- Purchase a USB 3.0 to HDMI adapter.
- Connect the adapter to one of your laptop's USB 3.0 ports.
- Connect the monitor to the adapter using an HDMI cable.
- Install any necessary drivers for the adapter.
Using a USB-C Hub
- Purchase a USB-C hub that includes HDMI and/or DisplayPort.
- Connect the hub to your laptop’s USB-C port.
- Connect your monitors to the hub using HDMI/DisplayPort cables.
- Install any necessary drivers if required.
Using a Thunderbolt Dock
- Purchase a Thunderbolt dock with dual monitor support.
- Connect the dock to your laptop’s Thunderbolt port.
- Connect your monitors to the dock using HDMI/DisplayPort cables.
- Install any necessary drivers.
By using these methods, you should be able to extend your laptop's display to two external monitors.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @nowaytrue,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Connecting two external monitors to a laptop that only has one HDMI port can be challenging, but there are several solutions you can explore.
Use a Docking Station:
- A docking station often comes with multiple display output options, such as HDMI, DisplayPort, or DVI. It connects to your laptop via a single USB-C, Thunderbolt, or USB 3.0 port and can manage multiple monitors. Ensure the docking station supports dual external displays.
USB to HDMI Adapter:
- You can use a USB-to-HDMI adapter to add an additional HDMI port. This adapter converts a USB 3.0 port into an HDMI output, allowing you to connect another monitor.
USB-C Hub with HDMI and DisplayPort:
- If your USB-C port does not support video output natively, you can use a USB-C hub that includes video output ports. Some hubs have HDMI, DisplayPort, and additional USB ports, enabling you to connect multiple monitors through a single hub.
Thunderbolt 3/4 Dock:
- If your laptop has a Thunderbolt 3 or 4 port, you can use a Thunderbolt dock to connect multiple monitors. Thunderbolt docks often support dual 4K displays.
Check for BIOS/UEFI Settings:
- Sometimes, the USB-C port may be disabled for video output in the BIOS/UEFI settings. Check if there's an option to enable video output over USB-C.
Verify Processor and Graphics Capabilities:
- Confirm that your laptop's integrated graphics or dedicated GPU supports multiple external monitors. Most modern Intel processors with integrated graphics support multiple displays, but it's good to verify.
