Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa1000 (771S5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Victus doesn't have a DisplayPort output. It has a USB Type C  port that supports DisplayPort, but my monitor doesn't have a Type C port.

For this reason, I bought a Type C to DisplayPort adaptor. It works, but when I check Nvidia control panel I see that display section is missing. So I can't enable G-Sync. I think the reason for that is, Type C port is probably connected to the Intel GPU, not Nvidia.

Is there a way to bypass Intel GPU and use Nvidia instead? Like maybe trying a different adaptor/cable or some other setting? Or is it not possible to enable G-Sync using a Type C  to DisplayPort adaptor/cable?

Thanks

Hi @gezgincan,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand that you're experiencing issues enabling G-Sync on your external monitor when using a Type-C to DisplayPort adapter on your Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop (15-fa1000). I appreciate the detailed explanation of your setup. Let me provide some clarity and potential solutions.

Reason for Missing G-Sync in NVIDIA Control Panel:

On many gaming laptops, including the Victus by HP 15-fa1000, the USB Type-C port with DisplayPort support is typically connected to the integrated Intel GPU, not directly to the NVIDIA GPU. G-Sync requires a direct connection to the NVIDIA GPU, which is why the Display section in NVIDIA Control Panel is not showing, preventing you from enabling G-Sync.

Check for a Direct NVIDIA Output (HDMI Port):

  • On the Victus 15-fa1000, the HDMI port is more likely to be connected directly to the NVIDIA GPU, which could support G-Sync (depending on your monitor).
  • Try connecting your monitor via an HDMI 2.1 or HDMI 2.0 cable to see if G-Sync becomes available in the NVIDIA Control Panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
