HP Omen
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was using my HP Omen laptop last night when suddenly a purple vertical line appeared on my display. My graphics drivers are updated and I ran BIOS mode, where the line appeared, and also connected an external monitor to my laptop, where no vertical line was present.

Having researched the issue, this appears to be a common hardware failure among HP users, and being out of warranty, this type of repair would cost me over $400 (I checked in with HP customer phone support and Best Buy, where the laptop was purchased, and both quoted around that range). The laptop runs fine, however, the vertical line is bothersome to stare since it's near the center of the screen and I worry that this is the first sign of even deeper hardware related issues.

This experience and the short shelf life of the display for an HP has me reconsidering ever purchasing another HP product ever again. Has anyone out of warranty experienced this and found a solution that doesn't cost a hefty sum?

OK.

To replace the panel you need partnumber 798926-009

You can find in HP parts store

https://parts.hp.com/hpparts/Search_Results.aspx?mscssid=682B3BAEC98045E3B9AAE78BB6F132EB&SearchIn=P...

or you can perform an online search with part number

Example:

On page 67-69 of service manual you can see the steps to replace the panel
