I have received a Laptop with vertical lines on the screen for repairs. I attempted to re-seat the screen cable on the main board and now the screen is black/dead. My next step is to plug in an external monitor to rule out a main board issue. Any other suggestions please as I need to quote my client.
Regards,
Duncan

Welcome to HP support community.
Yes, connect an external monitor and check if that works.
If not, that should be a hardware issue.
I request you to talk to HP support.
They might have multiple options to help you with this.
- Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
- Select the country.
- Enter the serial of your device.
- Select the country from the drop-down.
- Click on "Show Options".
- Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
I hope that helps.
