My laptop screen won't work and I can only see whats happening in the BIOS through an external monitor. Ran a fast diagnostic and got back a Video Memory Check Failed in the system fast test 2nd pass. Any advice? (Full story below incase that has any useful info.
My laptop recently started having problems with it's screen and then booting up. To start with, screen would not turn on however it was still completely functional with an external monitor plugged in (I was using a TV at the time). Then it started taking multiple attempts for it to boot up properly. To fix this I would hard restart the computer and after a couple of attempts it would work and an image would come through to the TV.
It then began to give an error on the TV saying the resolution output was not correct. I plugged it into a PC monitor an found that the only available resolution on the built in. screen was 1080x864 (or something along those lines), after some research it seemed that the cause of this was to do with the graphics drivers. I went to reinstall the drivers and selected the clean install, the old drivers were wiped and the laptop went to restart itself and now it won't display anything other than when I enter into the BIOS screen.
Many thanks
