I hope this message finds you well.

I’m using Hp pavilion AMD Ryzen 5 5600H GTX1650.

I am experiencing an issue with video playback where the video moves quickly for a few seconds before returning to normal speed. This happens intermittently, and it’s affecting my viewing experience.

Could you please assist in resolving this issue? Any troubleshooting steps or solutions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Best regards,

Hanu Jasti

@Hanu999,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Thank you for reaching out. I understand how frustrating video playback issues can be, and I’m here to help. Let’s troubleshoot the problem step-by-step to identify the cause and resolve it:

Step 1: Update Graphics Drivers:

Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date for both the integrated AMD GPU and the NVIDIA GTX 1650:

  1. AMD Integrated GPU:

    • Visit the AMD Drivers website: AMD Drivers.
    • Download and install the latest drivers for the Ryzen 5 5600H processor.
  2. NVIDIA GTX 1650:

    • Visit the NVIDIA Drivers website: NVIDIA Drivers.
    • Download and install the latest drivers for the GTX 1650.
  3. HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-ec2000:

Step 2: Check Windows Updates:

Ensure that Windows is fully updated:

  1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  2. Go to Update & SecurityWindows Update.
  3. Click Check for updates and install any pending updates.

Step 3: Change Video Playback Settings:

Adjust the playback settings to prevent hardware acceleration from causing interference:

  1. Open SettingsAppsVideo playback.
  2. Under “Stream HDR video,” toggle off Automatically process video to enhance it.
  3. If you’re using a browser (e.g., Chrome or Edge), disable hardware acceleration:
    • Go to the browser settings → System → Disable Use hardware acceleration when available.

Step 4: Verify Power Settings:

  1. Press Windows + S and search for Power Options.
  2. Select High Performance or Balanced.
  3. Avoid “Power Saver” mode, as it can throttle performance and cause playback issues.

Step 5: Test Playback on Different Applications:

  • Test the video playback on multiple apps or platforms (e.g., YouTube, Netflix, VLC Media Player).
  • This can help determine whether the issue is app-specific.

Step 6: Scan for Background Processes:

Heavy background processes can interfere with video playback.

  1. Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
  2. Check for high CPU, GPU, or Disk usage by other applications.
  3. End unnecessary processes to free up resources.

Step 7: Perform an HP Diagnostic Test:

Run the HP Support Assistant or use the UEFI diagnostics to test your hardware:

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then press F2 to access UEFI Diagnostics.
  2. Run tests on the GPU, CPU, and storage to rule out hardware issues.

Step 8: Consider Network Speed:

If you're streaming videos, ensure your internet speed is sufficient for HD or 4K content.

  • You can use speed tests like Speedtest by Ookla to check your connection.
  • If your connection is slow, consider adjusting the streaming quality on platforms like YouTube or Netflix.

Still Having Issues?

If the problem persists after trying these steps, it may be helpful to:

  • Update your media player (e.g., VLC, Windows Media Player).
  • Reinstall the affected app or browser.
  • Contact HP Support India for additional assistance or hardware diagnostics.

Let us know how it goes!

Kind Regards,
