I have the HP Spectre x360 15 and I'm trying to connect a docking station to the Thunderbolt port. All connections (audio, network, usb a, usb c) on the dock work except the video (HDMI or Displayport on the dock).

The dock is a Plugable DisplayLink UD-ULTC4K.

Then I tried connecting a cable directly from Thunderbolt and USB C ports to an HDMI monitor and that does not work either.

FYI, connecting an HDMI cable directly to the HDMI port on the computer does work.

@dhauser67

I can't find anything called Thunderbolt on its specs

But I believe it has at least 1 Thunderbolt port with a note: Your computer may also support a Thunderbolt docking station.

Now, my question is Are they (dock and machine) compatible ? Your machine may ONLY work with HP docks.

Regards.

According to the Plugable DisplayLink documentation it is compatible. The thing that I truly find strange is I also have a USB-C to HDMI connector that will also not display video out. I even had a buddy try it on his Spectre X360 13 and it works just fine.

To ensure there are no software conflicts, I wiped my computer last night to start with a fresh OS. Same issue for both the DisplayPort and the adapter to HDMI.

Thanks for responding.

This is directly from the manual as well. Port 6 is a Thunderbolt port.
