HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ap0xxx Product ID 4CJ13AV
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello all,

I just purchased the HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ap0xxx and I was surprised that the optimal viewing angle is extremely restricted. Now, just before anyone mentions it, I am talking about the unti is *NOT* in restricted side-angle viewing mode (where optimal viewing angle is even more limited).

Instead, I am talking about normal mode. Even at the optimal viewing angle, the edges of the screen are slightly darker. There isn't a way to have the entire screen the same brightness. This is dramatically different from the Lenovo X1 where the entire screen is the same brightness from edge-to-edge. Is the HP screen a totally different technology?

I just paid $1500 for this HP and I'm super happy with it except for this issue. Someone please make me feel better about this. Is this design a compromise for better battery life? Or should I have gotten a different laptop?

Thanks,

Kelly

It turns out that this is a known problem with the IPS display. If I had known this, I would have never purchased this model.
