I have an HP Ency x360 laptop and just bought an M24f Monitor. When I close the laptop, the M24f monitor goes dark. With my previous Dell laptop, I was able to set it up so when the laptop was closed, the external monitor didn't go black. I chatted with HP (Pramod Panikar) and he told me it is a software related issue, and it not supported under limited hardware support. Told me to contact SmartFriend team, which is a premium service. I'm assuming HP can fix this problem for more money. I previously had a Dell and this wasn't an issue. Any help? Thanks!

That is a simple fix, please use external monitor as the main one and the notebook screen as the secondary one. Please hit Windows key + P to change
Regards.

That worked! Thank you! I was also hoping to be able to close the laptop completely, but I'm assuming that can't be done? Again, thank you!!! At least if I have to keep the screen up, it's better blank, so I'm not looking at two screens.
