I’m using a Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 running Windows 11 64-bit, and my webcam is not showing up in device manager.  There is no “Cameras” or “Imaging Devices” section listed.

It sounds like your webcam might not be properly recognized by Windows 11, or the drivers may not be installed. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps to get it working again.

 

Check for Hidden Devices in Device Manager

Sometimes devices might be hidden, so it’s a good idea to check for any hidden devices in Device Manager.

Press Win + X and select Device Manager.

In Device Manager, click on View in the top menu and select Show hidden devices.

Look through the list again for any mention of Cameras, Imaging Devices, or anything related to your webcam.

If you find it listed, right-click it and select Enable (if it's disabled), or Update Driver.

 

Check for Driver Updates

Go to Device Manager.

Right-click on your laptop’s name at the top of the list (or “Other devices”) and select Scan for hardware changes. This can force Windows to search for any missing devices.

If that doesn't work, you can visit the HP support page and look for the drivers and software section for your model.

Download and install the webcam driver.

 

Check Windows Camera Privacy Settings

It’s also possible that the camera is disabled in Windows settings.

Open Settings by pressing Win + I.

Go to Privacy & Security.

Scroll down to Camera and ensure that Camera access is enabled.

Also, check the list of apps that have access to the camera and make sure the apps you want to use (like Zoom, Teams, etc.) are allowed.

 

Try Windows Troubleshooter

Windows has a built-in troubleshooter that can help detect and fix hardware issues.

Open Settings.

Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.

Look for Camera and run the troubleshooter.
