Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My webcam has been fine but has suddenly just showing a black screen.

The light is on.

I have followed LOTS of instructions:

Firewall, start up, disable, enable, updates, rollback (not available) permissions, apps, recording, restart, restart, restart but nothing is working.

I really need this and am at a loss of what to do and really need help. 😞

Thank you

Hi @KJW72,

Thanks for sharing the product details.

If the HP TrueVision HD Camera on your Pavilion x360 is showing a black screen, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Camera Privacy Settings: Ensure that the camera privacy settings are not blocking the camera. In Windows 10/11, go to Settings > Privacy > Camera, and make sure "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on.

Update Camera Driver: Update the camera driver to the latest version. You can do this through Device Manager. Right-click on the Start button, select Device Manager, expand the Camera section, right-click on the camera, and select Update driver.

Roll Back Camera Driver: If updating the driver doesn't work, you can try rolling back to a previous version of the driver. In Device Manager, right-click on the camera, select Properties, go to the Driver tab, and click on Roll Back Driver if available.

Check for Windows Updates: Ensure your Windows operating system is up to date. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues.

Restart Your Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix camera issues.

Check for Third-Party Software Conflicts: Sometimes, third-party applications can interfere with the camera. Try disabling or uninstalling any third-party camera-related software.

Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter: Windows has a built-in troubleshooter that can help identify and resolve hardware issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters, and run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

Check Camera Hardware: If none of the above steps work, there may be a hardware issue with the camera itself. In this case, you may need to contact HP support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
