webcam won't focus. opens fine, records and takes photos. Just won't focus regardless if i move forward or backward

 

already wiped lens, not a lighting issue.

 

1. already tried updating driver (up to date) and restarting

HP WIDE VISION FHD CAMERA

Driver Name: USB video device

Driver Date: 2006-06-21

Driver Version: 10.0.18362.815

 

2. already tried BIOS update - did nothing

3. already tried uninstalling camera in Device Manager and restarting

4. no issues with privacy with different programs/apps

5. do not have a privacy switch.

6. no new drivers listed on HP downloads.

7. downloaded YouCam to test but program does not open at all (does not respond) - tried to open YouCam from Camera app and received error message: Error at loading of ippSP library No DLLs were found in the Waterfall procedure.

 

Camera app opens but is not in focus and puts a red box around my face.., skype opens, zoom opens. IMAGE IS JUST NOT IN FOCUS.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

 

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed. 

 

While doing the recovery there is an option to back up your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time. 


Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows)You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

 

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

factory reset did not solve the issue. However one difference I noticed, the camera focus box is now blue instead of previously being red. no improvements on quality of camera or video focus.

 

current driver details as follows:

10.0.18362.815

dated: 6/21/2006

 

tried updating but states best driver is already installed.
