I've tried to resolve this through the steps suggested by Alden4 in Dec 2023. After all that, I now get a message stating, "Your camera is reporting that it is blocked or turned off by a switch or button on your device. Please unblock it or turn the switch on to use it." I've gone into the Privacy settings, and it is set correctly. I do not have a physical switch on this HP 17t-cn300.
Never mind. Operator error. I discovered there is a slide just above the camera hole that covers/uncovers it.
