Hello everyone, my system hp spectre 14 webcam just suddenly stopped working. I have tried everything even as far as resting the system nothing is working. And there is no physical damage to the camera. It's not just recorgnizing it.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Spectre x360 14-ef2000 laptop’s webcam is not being recognized, despite resetting your system, here are some steps to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

1. Check Privacy Settings

  • Go to SettingsPrivacy & securityCamera
  • Ensure Camera access and Let apps access your camera are both enabled

2. Check Device Manager

  1. Press Win + X → Select Device Manager
  2. Expand Imaging devices or Cameras
    • If you don’t see it, check Other devices or Unknown devices
  3. If the webcam is listed:
    • Right-click → Select Enable device (if disabled)
    • Right-clickUpdate driverSearch automatically for drivers
    • Right-clickUninstall device → Restart your laptop (Windows should reinstall it automatically)

3. Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Go to SettingsSystemTroubleshootOther troubleshooters
  • Run the Camera Troubleshooter

4. Check BIOS/UEFI Settings

  1. Restart your laptop and press F10 repeatedly to enter BIOS
  2. Look for Advanced settingsBuilt-in Device Options
  3. Ensure Camera is enabled
  4. Save changes and exit

5. Check HP Software Updates

  • Install HP Support Assistant → Check for BIOS & driver updates

6. Perform a Power Reset

  1. Turn off your laptop
  2. Unplug all accessories (including power)
  3. Hold Power button for 30 seconds
  4. Plug in and restart
