All tests pass but win 11 can not find webcam.  Driver installed and reinstalls when deleted,  Full test says Webcam passed.  External Camera works.  This is the worst HP Laptop I have had in years.  Mother Board failed,  Touch pad and mouse is erratic.  Webcam has disappeared.  The problems have stated with 24H2 which is not shown on HP site when trying to test as relates to the new er laptop.    All sorts of testing have been done including hours with Microsoft having access to laptop,

Hi @Bewilderednow,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can truly sense the frustration and disappointment, especially when you’ve invested in a premium HP Laptop and taken every step to maintain it, only to face a cascade of issues after the Windows 11 24H2 update.

Let’s break this down and tackle each issue.

Webcam Passed Diagnostics but Not Detected by Windows

This is a known issue affecting many HP users after the Windows 11 24H2 update. Even though the webcam passes hardware diagnostics, it may disappear from Device Manager, and apps like Camera, Zoom, or Teams won’t detect it.

Fixes to Try

  1. Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager
    • Open Device Manager → View → Show Hidden Devices.
    • Look under Imaging Devices or Cameras.
    • If the webcam appears, right-click → Enable or Update Driver.

  2. Scan for Hardware Changes
    • In Device Manager → Action → Scan for Hardware Changes.

  3. Check Privacy Settings
    • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
    • Ensure camera access is enabled for apps.

  4. Reset the Camera App
    • Go to Settings > Apps > Installed Apps > Camera > Advanced Options > Reset.

  5. BIOS Check
    • Restart and press Esc → F10 to enter BIOS.
    • Ensure the camera is enabled in BIOS settings.

  6. Rollback Windows Update
    • Go to Settings > System > Recovery > Go back to revert to 23H2 if available.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Thank you for your response.

That was my consideration.

F10 to enter BIOS. Ensure the camera is enabled in BIOS settings  note found in Bios.

HP does not show the Win 11 24h2 in the application software.
